The rules for conducting CS tournaments have been updated by Valve
Valve has announced an update to the rules for conducting Counter-Strike tournaments. Now, teams can qualify for championships either through the Valve ranking system or via open qualifiers.
These changes aim to create a more open competitive scene. Due to the long-term commitments of tournament organizers to club partners, the new rules will come into effect starting from 2025.
The updated regulations include:
- Tournament organizers will no longer maintain unique business relationships or encounter conflicts of interest with participating teams.
- Invitations to all tournaments will be determined either based on the Valve ranking or through open qualification competitions.
- Any rewards for participating teams, whether prize funds or other forms of compensation, will be disclosed and based on objective criteria that the community can verify.
Developers note that they will refine the details and enhance the system.
