Ninjas in Pyjamas became the fifth team to join the upcoming tournament in Oakland. The current list of the teams participating in this Intel Extreme Masters is as following: SK Gaming, Astralis, Liquid, Virtus.Pro и NiP.

Previously, Astralis received the direct invitation to the event. Astralis team members are not in their best condition now, but the organizers decided to give them a chance to show themselves on this LAN-event.

ESL One Cologne 2016 and ELEAGUE S1 were the latest offline tournaments for Ninjas in Pyjamas. On ESL One Cologne 2016 Swedish team for the first time in their history did not qualify through the Play-off CS:GO-Major series and lost the decider match against FlipSid3.

NiP took 5-8 places on ELEAGUE, losing the decisive match against Virtus.Pro.

IEM Oakland 2016 invites 12 teams to join the event. Only the teams which received the direct invitations from the organizers will qualify for participation. Five teams have already been invited, 7 more teams are to receive their invitations.

Prize pool of the championship is still unknown. The tournament will be hosted by Oracle Arena on November 19-20.
