According to a Reddit post, Simon Carless, a veteran of the gaming industry, shared information about presenting an early version of a game on the Steam platform. In this version, several objects were used that, in his opinion, were created using artificial intelligence. The developer planned to manually improve these objects in the next game update.

In response, Valve stated that the game could not be approved until the developer provided evidence of having all the necessary rights.

Valve noted that intellectual property, likely belonging to third parties, including artistic objects created by artificial intelligence using potentially copyrighted materials from other individuals, was discovered in the game.

Due to the uncertainty of the legal rights regarding such objects created by artificial intelligence, Valve cannot release the game until the developer confirms ownership of all intellectual property used to train the artificial intelligence creating the objects in the game.

As a result, Valve rejected the game version and provided the developer with the opportunity to remove all content for which rights are in question before resubmission.

The developer claims to have independently improved the mentioned objects to make them less recognizable as products of artificial intelligence, but the game was rejected again after resubmission.

Valve states that it cannot release games if the developer lacks the necessary rights. Currently, Valve is cautious about games created using artificial intelligence and is not ready to publish content generated by artificial intelligence. The developer reports that Valve likely has an ambiguous approach to such games, and other developers should exercise caution in this regard.
