Due to fraudulent item duplication, item trading in the second season of Diablo 4 has been temporarily suspended

In a post on the game's official forum, community manager Rich Bantegui announced that item trading has been temporarily disabled while they address a specific issue.

"We have temporarily suspended the ability to trade items among players in Diablo IV due to an exploit related to item duplication," Bantegui stated.

"We are actively working on resolving this situation and will notify you when the trading feature is reinstated. We will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure a quality gaming experience for all players.

"Any account found engaging in gold and item duplication exploits will be subject to actions in accordance with our End User License Agreement.

"We appreciate your reporting of this exploit and your patience."

Although Bantegui did not provide specific details about the exploit, other players on the Diablo forum speculate that it may be related to the ability to summon one of the bosses, Echo of Duriel, who is the only Season 2 boss capable of dropping 'Uber Unique' items.

Typically, to reach Duriel, players need to collect specific materials to unlock the Echo of Varshan and Grigoire bosses, defeat them, and acquire specific materials that can be used to summon Duriel.

However, as per a forum user named Gorz, "the items needed to summon Duriel can be copied, and thousands of them are currently being duplicated," implying that this might be the item duplication exploit that Blizzard is addressing.

This isn't the first time Blizzard has had to temporarily suspend item trading in Diablo 4 due to a duplication exploit. A similar situation occurred in August when item trading was halted after it was discovered that players were using exploits to duplicate items and gold.
