The creation of an animated series based on the game Dead Cells has been announced by the French studio Bobbypills, which is already responsible for the game's animated trailers. The series will be co-produced with the anime streaming service Animation Digital Network.

The series will consist of 10 episodes, each approximately seven minutes long, and will premiere in France next year before becoming available worldwide.

According to the description accompanying the teaser trailer, the series takes place on a cursed island that has been plagued by a strange disease. After the foolish king of the island develops a remedy that transforms the population into monstrous creatures, prophecies of a flame-headed hero who will kill the mad king begin to emerge.

As it turns out, this decapitated hero does exist, but saving the kingdom is not on his agenda, and he simply wants to be left alone. But guess who won't leave him alone...

Motion Twin recently announced that the game Dead Cells has surpassed 10 million sales since its early access release in 2017.

Evil Empire, the studio established to create additional content for the game, also stated that they will continue to support the game with new content at least until the end of 2024.
