A handheld Sega Genesis / Mega Drive has been unveiled, capable of playing original cartridges
The Mega 95 portable system from Hyperkin supports all officially released Sega cartridges.
As per The Verge, this device is based on Hyperkin's existing MegaRetroN HD gaming console, which is also compatible with the Sega Mega Drive.
Mega 95 comes with a Nintendo Switch-style dock, allowing users to connect the system to a TV and use additional controllers.
The device supports both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios and features a 5-inch display. It's claimed that the Mega 95 offers approximately 10 hours of battery life on a full charge.
There's no confirmed release date or price for the Mega 95 from Hyperkin yet. The company currently sells several devices that emulate classic consoles, including a portable Super NES/ Super Famicom machine priced at $119.99/ £119.99.
The Sega Mega Drive (known as Sega Genesis in North America) was a 16-bit system released in Japan in the late 80s.
It's best known for its bundled game, Sonic The Hedgehog. The sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, became the best-selling game for the system not included with the console.
In the 90s, it was succeeded by the Sega Saturn, which faced fierce competition from Sony's PlayStation.
