Fortnite set a new record with 44 million players in a single day after reintroducing the original map
According to a post on Fortnite's official Twitter page, a record number of players was achieved on Saturday, November 4th.
"Let's start with a bang," reads the tweet posted on Sunday. "We're thrilled with the response to Fortnite OG. Yesterday marked the biggest day in Fortnite's history, with over 44.7 million players and more than 102 million hours of gameplay. Thanks to all Fortnite players, both old and new!"
According to third-party data from Fortnite.GG, the game reached its all-time peak concurrent players during this period, with a peak of 6,172,463 people playing the game simultaneously at one point.
Fortnite OG was initially launched on November 3 and will run until December 2, promising to take fans of Epic's battle royale on a nostalgic journey.
The return to the original Fortnite map means that players can once again battle it out in familiar locations like Tilted Towers, Risky Reels, Greasy Grove, and Loot Lake.
As announced by Epic in their blog last week, "Throughout Fortnite OG, each major update will bring different phases of Battle Royale's past, starting with Chapter 1 Season 5."
Returning players may notice some changes, as the price of Fortnite V-Bucks was increased in several regions, including the USA and countries using USD in Fortnite, as well as all Eurozone countries, last month.
