Diablo 4 has become unplayable as Blizzard grapples with login issues on Battle.net

Denne artikel er tilgængelig på følgende sprog

The Battle.net service, Blizzard's official game launcher and online game store, has temporarily encountered technical issues affecting players who use this platform to access games such as Diablo 4, World of Warcraft, and other Blizzard titles. According to a statement from the official Blizzard CS EU account posted earlier today, the company is "currently investigating an issue" related to authentication servers, which may result in "failed or slow login attempts" for users.

As of the time of writing this article, the problems with Battle.net are ongoing, making games that require a constant internet connection, like Diablo 4, unavailable for many, if not all, players. This situation has undoubtedly drawn attention to the upcoming release of Diablo 4 on the Steam platform. Our colleagues at PCG have reported that when attempting to launch the game during the outage, they encountered an infinite queue.

When attempting to launch Battle.net, users currently receive a notification stating, "We are aware of an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in slow or failed login attempts. We are currently investigating the cause and will provide updates as soon as they are available."

The good news is that Blizzard has stated that they are actively working to resolve the issue. However, unfortunately, the company has made similar announcements multiple times in the past few hours. It appears that the root cause of the problem on the Battle.net servers is proving to be persistent.

Considering that Blizzard's decision to make Diablo 4 entirely dependent on an internet connection has sparked mixed reactions among players, and that some players had shown optimism following recent developer announcements, including details about the upcoming season, there are certainly more opportune times for such problems to occur. Blizzard is likely not eager to remind players, at least some of them, of their dissatisfaction with Diablo 4's always-online nature immediately after winning some of them back.

Blizzard states that they are "working to resolve this ASAP," and we will update this article with any news on the matter as soon as it becomes available.
