Netherrealm Studios Delays Kameo Fighter Ferra, Announces New Release Date with Takeda
Netherrealm Studios has announced a delay for the upcoming kameo fighter Ferra, who will now launch alongside Mortal Kombat 1’s final DLC fighter, Takeda. Since its release on September 19, 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 has seen steady growth with regular updates and DLC content, keeping fans engaged with new additions nearly every month.
Latest Updates and Upcoming Releases
Recently, the final guest character, Homelander from Amazon's "The Boys," was added to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster. Although Homelander does not feature Antony Starr’s voice, Netherrealm successfully captured the character’s likeness and personality, including many fan-favorite Easter eggs. Following this update, attention has shifted to what’s next for the popular fighting game, but Netherrealm has some disappointing news regarding Ferra.
Delay of Ferra's Release
Netherrealm Studios has revealed that Ferra's release into the Mortal Kombat 1 kameo roster will be delayed. Initially expected to launch soon, Ferra will no longer be available in June. The studio did not provide specific reasons for the delay, stating only that they need "a bit more time to make sure she can assist to the best of her abilities." They thanked the community for their understanding and patience.
Takeda's Release Date
To soften the disappointment, Netherrealm announced the release date for Takeda, the final DLC character from Kombat Pack 1. Both Ferra and Takeda will now be launching together on July 23, 2024, marking the official end of the first year of planned DLC content.
Future Speculations
While the announced DLC fighters are nearing their end, there is speculation about a potential second Kombat Pack, similar to what Netherrealm Studios has done with previous games like Mortal Kombat 11. Rumors and datamines suggest that additional guest characters could be on the way, with evidence pointing to the possible inclusion of Scream’s Ghostface. While unconfirmed, this addition would align with Netherrealm’s history of featuring characters from other horror franchises such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th.
As fans look forward to the new content, the anticipation continues to build for what Netherrealm Studios has in store for Mortal Kombat 1 in the future.
